Mr. Amitava Basu

Mr. Amitava Basu is a Post-Graduate in Commerce (M.Com.) from the University of Kolkata, Bachelors in Law (LL.B.) from the same University and a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He started his working career in 1976 with the Management Consultancy Services Division of Price Waterhouse, a global accounting and consulting major. In 1987, he moved to the public sector domain and joined Biecco Lawrie Limited (member of IBP-Balmer Lawrie Group of Companies). In 1994, he rejoined Price Waterhouse (renamed Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC)). In 1997, Mr. Basu rose to the level of Executive Director/Partner of the firm. Currently, he is President of Intercontinental Consultants and Technocrats Private Limited (ICT), a home-grown consultancy organization operating in more than 30 countries.

Apart from experience in consultancy and industry, he has also been actively involved in the academic field. He was a visiting faculty for a decade at Xavier Labour Relations Institute, (XLRI), Jamshedpur, a premier business school in the country. He is associated with a number of academic institutions such as Department of Commerce, Delhi University for Masters in Human Resources & Organisational Development (MHROD), Amity Business School, The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, etc.
He is a prolific writer and has articles published in various national and international journals and magazines such as Insecurity Forum (Germany), The Financial Express (Bangladesh), The Guardian, Tanzania, Times of India, Infrastructure Today etc. He has also authored a book titled “Sustainability Reporting” published by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. This is a pioneer publication in the field of sustainable development for accounting professionals in the country. As consultant and development practitioner, he has, over the years, struggled and worked despite all odds to forge ahead in his own humble way to contribute to the infrastructure development planning and human resource development.
He has been Training and leading the younger generation for developmental work by combining modern thinking with time-tested traditional and cultural values. With 32 years of his working career, he is recognized as a thought leader in the developmental field by various international organizations like the European Association of Research & Developmental Institutions (EADI), Environmental & Water Resources Institute (EWRI) of American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), NABUR of the Netherlands.
