Dr. R.V. Singh graduated in Agriculture from A. S. J.
College, Lakhaoti in 1950. He then pursued a
Post-graduate degree (M. Sc. Agronomy) from B. R.
college Agra in 1952. He is an Indian Forest Service
officer from A. I. F. C. (Indian Forest College, Dehra
Dun) (1955-58). He is also a Ph. D. from H. P.
University (1976). |

As a member of the Indian
Forest Service, he has served in different capacities up
to the level of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests
in Himachal Pradesh. He has been Professor and Head
Department of Forestry, H. P. University (1971-76);
Coordinator, Conifers Research Centre, Forest Research
Institute, Dehra Dun (1977-1983); President, Forest
Research Institute and Colleges, Dehra Dun (1984-86);
Director General, Indian Council of Forestry Research
and Education (1986-89).
He is a Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural
Sciences; Fellow of National Academy of Forests and
Environment; Member of a number of professional
societies and Chairman, Commonwealth Forestry
Association (South Asia).
